Belly Souk Class Descriptions Multi-Level Belly Dance: In this class, I offer Belly Dance instruction to dancers of all skill levels. I introduce Beginners to the foundational technique of Belly Dance. I offer additional layers to more advanced students. Students are encouraged to work at their own pace through the warm-up, conditioning, technique breakdown, traveling foot patterns, and cool-down. This class is open to dancers of all levels. Beginner Belly Dance: My Beginner Belly Dance class is open to dancers ages 15 and up; no experience necessary. I introduce fundamental technique, starting with posture, alignment, and proper muscular contraction. Advanced-Beginner Belly Dance: In this class, I teach more advanced technique, layered movements, and choreography, finger cymbals, and rhythm identification. This class moves quickly, and requires familiarity with my instructional style. If you are interested in taking this class, contact me directly. My Advanced-Beginner Belly Dance class requires a working knowledge of the muscular contractions required to execute basic technique in the Suhaila Salimpour Format. Most students are ready for Advanced-Beginner classes after about six months of weekly classes with me at the Beginner level. Intermediate Belly Dance: In this intensive class, I help students hone their layering skills, lead them in conditioning and acting exercises, help them develop their own unique dance style through improvisation and emotional expression, and develop high-level group choreographies. This class is invitation only. I am not currently teaching an Intermediate Belly Dance Class. Check back soon! Choreography Sessions: I periodically offer 6-week or 8-week Choreography sessions at the Advanced-Beginner level.
